The Cudjoes’ thirty-year journey to parenthood
Bernard Sam Cudjoe, a 56-year-old engineer and pastor, and his wife Christina Cudjoe, a 53-year-old entrepreneur, had spent thirty years longing for a child. Their marriage was filled with love, but their home remained silent—no giggles, no little footsteps, only the quiet ache of waiting.
Three IVF attempts over the years had drained their savings and left their hearts heavy with disappointment. Each failed procedure deepened their fear that perhaps parenthood was not meant for them.
Then, a glimmer of hope—a trusted friend recommended the Accra Fertility Centre (AFC). But after so much heartache, Bernard and Christina were hesitant. The financial strain of another IVF weighed heavily on their minds. Should they risk what little they had left on a slim chance? Or should they finally accept their fate and use their savings to secure their future in other ways? The odds felt daunting—less than a 50% chance of success.
One evening, after deep prayer and a heartfelt conversation, they made a decision: one last try. If it failed, they would lay their dream to rest.
Christina, accompanied by the friend who recommended AFC, made her first visit. From the moment she stepped through the doors, she felt something was different. The warmth of the team, the advanced equipment, the photos and stories of couples who had also faced infertility—it all rekindled her hope. She called Bernard, her voice steady with conviction: “Bernard, I’m convinced they know what they’re doing here. This feels different.”
During the consultation, doctors advised that, due to her age, donor eggs would be needed. Without hesitation, Christina agreed, willing to do whatever it took to finally hold a child of her own. The procedure was done, and then came the waiting.
A few months later, Christina began to feel unwell. Remembering the guidance of AFC, she reported her symptoms. A pregnancy test was done—and at last, the miracle they had dreamed of was confirmed. She was pregnant. Overcome with emotion, Christina called Bernard at work. His joy was so great he left immediately, rushing to AFC to hear the news himself
And then, even greater joy: an ultrasound revealed not one, but three babies—two boys and a girl. Christina was placed under the expert care of Medifem Hospital, AFC’s sister facility, where mother and babies were carefully monitored.
At last, after years of waiting, praying, and trying, the Cudjoes welcomed their beautiful triplets. Their once-quiet home now overflowed with the laughter and cries of new life.
“To any couple facing fertility struggles,” Bernard says, “I recommend IVF—and not just IVF, but IVF at Accra Fertility Centre.” And Christina, with tears of joy, adds: “Thanks to Accra Fertility Centre, now I am also called a mother.”
These are the stories that remind us of the power of hope, faith, and the right care. At AFC, we are honoured to be part of these miracles.
